Ok, in follow up to my early blog post about cyclist safety receiving more attention in the media, here is a movement by the Green party to increase the fines for motorists who open their doors into traffic.
They are calling for people to share their stories on being “doored” and will use this evidence to hopefully push through a Bill and make a new law that drastically increases the penalties drivers face if caught.
Written submissions MUST be in by Friday April 27th 2012 so you’ll need to be quick!! It’s a great opportunity to share your “dooring” story, so please submit if you can. NOTE - This is only for those living in Victoria, Australia.
Seems i’m one of the lucky few that hasn’t been doored, but I hate the fact that it feels like a matter of when, not if……

I’m excited.
I’m also in trouble (well kinda). I bought tickets for this aaaages ago when they were first released to CA members. January 2012 rolled around and i realised in my shiny new diary that this would land smack in the middle of easter.
My girlfriend is going on holiday to Alice Springs, pretty sure she wanted me to go too. Guess where i’ll be…..?
That’s right, trackside at the World Champs cheering until i’m hoarse. i reckon i’ll soothe the pain afterwards with a few pints. Get tickets if you can find em, it’s worth it.
